Uber Driver Arrested After Allegedly Kidnapping Woman in West Hollywood


An Encino man who drives for the ride-sharing company Uber has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping a woman with the intention of sexually assaulting her, police said Tuesday.

Frederick Dencer, 32, was taken into custody Monday after officers found him in a Panorama City motel room, where he allegedly took the 26-year-old woman after picking her up Sunday night at a West Hollywood nightclub, according to an LAPD news release.

The woman had called police from a nearby convenience store after waking up next to the man, who was shirtless, and leaving the motel, the release said. She was not injured.

Although Dencer had an Uber fare Sunday night, it was not immediately known if the woman had used the mobile app to call for a ride at Greystone Manor, located at 643 La Cienega Boulevard, police said.
